Free remotes. Remote operators never need their own license. They join a session hosted by a licensed BEYOND machine and receive a session token automatically, with no per-remote charge at any crew size.
How many licenses do I need?
Count your BEYOND machines and divide by 2. ZoneTools supports Node 1 through Node 10, so 5 licenses covers the largest rig the app can run.

Updates
Free updates within the current major version are included for all license holders: bug fixes, performance improvements, new helper utilities, and BEYOND compatibility updates. Updates are opt-in and will never interrupt show-day operations.
Activation
When you purchase, a license key is delivered by email. You paste it into JD3 ZoneTools at first launch. After activation, day-to-day use runs offline, because verification happens locally. The app only needs to reach us for the 30-day license check described below.
License keys look like: JD3-ZT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Each license includes 3 concurrent activations: the 2 BEYOND machines the license covers, plus one spare so a backup box is ready without signing anything out first.
The activation file is stored at:

Deactivation & transfers
To release an activation slot, use Sign out this rig in the app's license controls. This frees the slot immediately for use on another machine.
Activations that haven't checked in for 30 days are automatically released, which protects this protects you if a machine is stolen or reformatted without deactivating first. If a rig will be dark and offline longer than that, sign it out first or email us and we'll hold the slot.
License transfers are allowed at no charge. Email john@jd3lasers.com with the original purchase email and the new owner's email.
Refund policy
Request a refund within 14 days of purchase and we process it without asking why. Your license is revoked and your payment goes back to the original method. Past 14 days we handle refunds case by case, including hardware incompatibility discovered after the window. Full detail on the refund policy page.

JD3 ZoneTools is compatible with all BEYOND license tiers (Essentials, Advanced, Ultimate) and license types (Lifetime, Internet, Hardware). BEYOND is sold separately by Pangolin Laser Systems, Inc. JD3 Lasers LLC is not affiliated with Pangolin.

Is this a subscription?
No. JD3 ZoneTools is sold as a perpetual license. You pay once and own the software. There is no recurring fee.
Do remote operators need their own license?
No. Remote operators join a session hosted by a licensed BEYOND machine and receive a session token automatically. Unlimited free remotes are included with every license.
What happens if I need to move to a new machine mid-tour?
Use Sign out this rig on the old machine first, then activate on the new machine. If you can't reach the old machine (lost, stolen, reformatted), email support and we'll manually release the slot. No charge for legitimate hardware-failure transfers.
How many BEYOND machines does one license cover?
2. Rigs larger than that need one more license per 2 additional machines, up to 5 licenses for a full 10-machine rig.
Do you offer educational discounts?
Yes. 50% off for verified institutions. Email john@jd3lasers.com from your institutional address.
How do I pay?
There is no self-serve checkout yet. During closed beta, licenses are issued after a beta request is reviewed, and we invoice directly. Card and bank transfer are both fine. Self-serve purchasing arrives with general release.
